Are you using a modem for WIFI connectivity? I have some difficulties as well whenever I am at Starbucks and what I usually do is unplugging the modem - restarting my laptop and plugging the modem back before it boots up. Hope that also fix your predicament.

Open Control Panel, select Network Connections. Right click on Wireless Network Connection, select Properties. Click Wireless Networks, make sure there is a tick in ‘Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings’ and click OK. Right click on Wireless Network Connection again and select View Available. If there is a wireless network in range it will show up with security details. If it says it is unsecured you can press connect in the bottom right.
We'd moved the linksys router running Freifunk firmware to the other side of the office. This meant that Jenny was unable to connect to it.
Temporary solution was to install the latest freifunk on another WRT54GL and put that in the other side of the office. This allows Jenny to connect again.
A bigger and better solution would be to use the aerial at the Yemeni Education Resource Organisation and connect a OLSR router to that.
I'll get in touch with Mr Niqib and see if that is still OK.
